John Charles Callahan, 81, of Versailles, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024. He was born May 26, 1942 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Celestine "Chuck" and Agnes (Pipp) Callahan. John retired from ELG (Steelmet) after 30 years of service and was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was always quick with a joke and was loved by all who knew him. He loved his family and friends and was very proud of his children. He was a avid Steeler fan and enjoyed watching Westerns. John was a member of the White Oak American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, (Although he told everyone she was his "Bride of three years"), Eleanor Jean (Evans) Callahan, daughters, Dawn Marie (Matt) Goydich of Hempfield, Pamela Jean (David) Conner of Jupiter, FL., and Jennie Elizabeth (Michael) Williams of North Huntingdon, sons, John Charles (Sharil) Callahan of Sewickley Township and Seth Winfred (Lisa) Callahan of Bedford, VA., brothers, Charles Callahan of Christy Park and William Callahan of West Newton, sisters, Shirley Fairbanks of Export, Margaret (Philip) Rodgers of White Oak, Zita Jimenez of North Carolina, and Cindy (Chris) Walters of Florida, grandchildren, Brandon (Angel) Goydich, Shane (Jordan) Goydich, Jami Conner, Riley Conner, Joshua (Heather) DeFelice, Jacob (Tabatha) DeFelice, Joey (Brianna) DeFelice, and Joel (Tara) DeFelice, Collin (Novatana) Callahan, CJ Kolick and Ashton Kopchinski, great-grandchildren, Brock, Bryn, Shadon, Isla, Stellan, Calli, Hunter, Emma, Benjamin, Jenna, Sabatino, JoAnna, Olivia, Jaxon, Weston, and Clayton, great-great-grandchildren, Donovan and Elijah, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David Callahan, Edward Callahan and Dennis Callahan and sisters, Agnes Archibald, Sandy Callahan, and Mary Ann Callahan. Friends are welcome Monday, March 18, 2024 from 9 am -1 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, Director. Services will be held Monday at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Kirk Albrecht, officiating.
