George A. Johnson

George A. Johnson, Jr., 90, of Newport News, VA, formerly of Port Vue, PA, passed away Sunday January 17, 2021. He was born September 19, 1930 in Ellsworth PA, and was the son of the late George A. Johnson, Sr. and Helen (Moore) Johnson. He was the husband of the late Ruth Shirley (Coburn) Johnson, who passed away May 13, 1994. George was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He later worked for 25 years at Equibank and then for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for 10 years. George was also a member of the Lions Club in Port Vue, PA. He is survived by his children, Leslie (Regis) Stegman of Greensburg, PA, Kim (the late George) Smiles of Wallingford, CT, Wendy (Paul) Mackey of Elizabeth, PA, Mark (Linda) Johnson of Newport News, VA, Pamela (John) Foster of Gloucester, VA, and Hilary (Terry) Cooley of Newport News, VA, grandchildren, Alyson (David) Merlino, Katrina (Michael) Greene, Allen and Carl Mackey, Brandon(Alyssa) Johnson, Brooke (Ryan) Burton, William Foster, Jake (Tsubasa) Cooley, Devon Cooley, Jennifer (Travis) Haurand, Jason (Melissa) Foster and Jason (Kristin) Stone, great-grandchildren, Cadence Merlino, Gavin Greene, Averiana Johnson, Ryan and Tyler Johnson, Abigail and Rylan Haurand, Isabella, Isaac, and Jacob Stone, Julian, Jaden and Noah Cooley, and Evan, Landon, and Grayson Foster. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth (the late Joseph) Dugan, and Georgette (the late Roy) Maurer, and grandsons, Brian and Kyle Johnson. There is no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00am.
