Frank N. Zic of Scottdale, formerly of White Oak, passed peacefully on March 20, 2024. He was born December 15, 1929 in Wilson, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Fodor Zic. He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish- St. Patrick Church, in Christy Park. Mr. Zic participated in R.O.T.C. training while at Duquesne University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.B.S. in Electrical Engineering. As a lifelong employee of US Steel Clairton Works, he held various positions including General Foreman in the Maintenance and Utility Department specializing in high voltage and instrumentation, a relief Superintendent of Utilities, and Division Engineer of Maintenance and Utilities. He also headed up Air and Water pollution testing in the Mon Valley plants before retiring from the Duquesne Works Central Dispatching Office. In retirement he was a past member of Mount Vernon AARP and National AARP; past President and Vice President of the Clairton Works Maintenane and Utilities Supervisor Social club; past President, Vice President and Tour Director of The Elizabeth Twp. Senior Citizens; member of Renzie Park Seniors; Boston Commons Life Span, and participated in the UPMC “Center for Healthy Aging Program.” He was co-owner of the E-Z Needlecraft Shop in Boston, worked for the McKeesport Food Bank and did dedicated work with the Elizabeth Twp. Meals on Wheels. He was an avid hunter, bowler, and golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, daughter Elaine Zic New of Mckeesport; brother Edward “Red” Zic of Pittsburg, CA, and sister, Frances Price of Columbus, IN. Surviving are niece, Gay M. (Robert) Weimer of Columbus, IN; grand-nephews Matthew (Jamie Freeman) Weimer of Columbus IN; Anna (Joseph Paquette) Weimer of Columbus, IN; Nicholas (Jennifer) Weimer and their children, Samuel, Natalie and Caroline, of Nashville, TN; Zachary (Katherine) Weimer and their children, Jacob, Clare, Charles, Margaret, Emily, and Olivia of Sugar Land, TX; nephews and a niece, CA; stepdaughter, Rose (Troy) Townsend, UT; stepson, Robert Pelletier, NC, and step-grandsons, Daniel Dubich and Ralph Pelletier.Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 A.M St. Patrick Church, McKeesport.
