Marsha Ann Wawrzeniak Bazylak

Marsha Ann (Wawrzeniak) Bazylak, 74, of North Versailles, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017, surrounded by her family after successfully winning the fight against Lung Cancer. She was born September 7, 1942 in Glassport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olga and Frank Wawrzeniak; step-father, Stanley Wawrzeniak; sister, Francis Marie and brother, Francis. A graduate of Montefiore Nursing School in 1963, Marsha was an operating room nurse for 42 years at McKeesport Hospital. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and a member of the East Allegheny AARP, where she served as president. In addition, she was an active member of the YMCA in Wilmerding. Marsha was known as the “official neighborhood nurse” and enjoyed traveling, polka music/dancing, spending time with her friends and family and watching her grandchildren in their activities. Marsha is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tom Bazylak; daughters, Sue (Bob) Svec and Patty Colorito; grandchildren, Tom, Heather, Bobby and Ashley Svec, and Ava and Dante Colorito; sister Carol (Jim) Bradley; brother, Richard (Rose) Wawrzeniak and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marsha’s memory to the East Allegheny AARP c/o 1415 Greensburg Ave, North Versailles PA 15137 or the Hillman Cancer Center 5115 Centre Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15232 . Marsha’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Shadyside, UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC McKeesport (CCU and 3 Mansfield) for their excellent and compassionate care that she received while in their care.
