Christa Kate Westerberg

Christa Kate Westerberg, 75, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016. She was born December 17, 1940 in Bremerhaven, Germany and was the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Anna Minnermann Schmonsees. She was wife of the late Brent Arthur Westerberg who died August 4, 1999. Christa was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in White Oak and the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank in Duquesne. She was a school bus driver for Queen of Angels School and retired after 20 years of service. She is survived by her son, Brent D. (Chris) Westerberg of Claridge, daughter, Denise Renee (Robert) Price of Greensburg, brothers, Wilfried (Annalee), Heinz-Georg (Ingrid), and Reiner (Biergit) Schmonsees of Germany, sisters, Annagret (Gunter) Neiff and Magda (Benno) Jupt of Germany, and Luise (Barry) Hackett of Tacoma, WA, grandchildren, Derick, Nicholas, Brendan, Bobby, Brent and Valerie, great-granddaughter, Genevieve, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helga (Hugo) Kruger and Inge (Adolf) Neumeister. Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8, Friday, November 18 at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, Director. Funeral service will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 19, at 10:00 am. with The Rev. Michael Ryan, officiating. Interment will follow at the Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, Inc., North Huntingdon.
