Joseph Barowich

Joseph Barowich, 97, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Port Vue, died Thursday, December 3, 2015. He was born March 14, 1918 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Julian Barowich (Borowiec), and the late Honorata "Eleanor" Pasko Barowich Palesko. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ann Puckey Barowich who died February 11, 2011. Joseph retired from the Port Authority of Allegheny County in 1980 and was a WWII US Army Air Corps Veteran. He was a member of the Columbus Moose Club and White Oak American Legion. He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Sheila) Barowich of Cumming, Georgia, and David (Christy) Barowich of Mount Vernon, and daughter, Janice (William) Skinner of Sykesville, MD., brother, Chester (Doris) Palesko of Austin, TX, sister, Jean (Ken) Katrick of Port Vue, grandchildren, Stacey, Shannon, Erica, Kylie, Travis, Emma and Eli, great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nicole and Riley, nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Kohl, Anelia "Nellie" Borowiec, and Helen Petro, and brothers, Adam and Theodore Barowich. Friends are welcome Friday December 4 from 5-8:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday December 5 at 12 noon, with The Rev. William K. Little, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Corpus Christi Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue. Condolences may be made at gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com
