Alice J. Craven, 84, of Elizabeth Township, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 19, 2015. A victim of Alzheimer's disease, she passed away peacefully in her home, where her devoted husband Don cared for her. She was born October 8, 1931 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy Koschik Graves. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1949 and was also a graduate of Robert Morris Business School. Alice had worked for the former US Steel National Tube Works and also worked for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in San Diego, CA., where her husband Don was serving in the USMC. Later she worked for Page/Beechcraft airplane sales and service at the Allegheny County Airport. When her children were young, Alice was involved in the PTA, even serving as president for a term. Alice was one of the founding members of the Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church, and was active in many different capacities there. She was secretary of the original building committee and later, when the church expanded, was again secretary of that building committee. She served as church treasurer and was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Gospel singers. She also belonged to the United Methodist Women, at one time serving as president. Active in summer and winter sports, she had many hobbies. Besides being a good seamstress, she enjoyed cross-stitching, baking and reading. For a short time after retirement, Alice owned a Ceramic Shop with her sister Doris Muir. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald R. Craven. They were married May 5, 1951. She is also survived by daughters, Debra Gantt of Taylor's, SC., and Janet (Dan) Greene of Hickory, sons, Art (Bonnie) Craven of Simpsonville, SC., and David (Shelley) Craven of North Huntingdon, grandchildren, Heather Gantt, Dan and Jacob Greene, and David and Kevin Craven, great-grandchildren, Dexter and Ethan Greene, sister, Doris Muir of Apollo Beach, FL., nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome, Monday, November 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM., at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, November 24, at 11:30 am, with The Rev. Timothy Craven, officiating.
