Robert Duane Carter

Robert Duane Carter, 88, of Bradenton, FL., died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. He was born January 4, 1927 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Charles Carter and the late Carrie Marie Dunlap Carter Calkins. He was the husband of the late Genevieve Wible Carter. He attended the McKeesport Presbyterian Church, and was a US Army Veteran. He worked for the former US Steel National Tube Works where he was Plant Photographer when he retired. Robert was proprietor of the former Park Studio in McKeesport. He was the manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates Training Center in Bradenton for 4 years and also worked at Scotty's Hardware in Bradenton until he was 72. He was a member of the Friday Night Mixed Bowling League and was an avid Steeler fan. Robert enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in his backyard and was a very laid back, peace loving man. He is survived by his daughters, Carol A. (Roger) Lasch of White Oak and Barbara J. Carter of Scottsdale, AZ, son, Dr. Thomas Carter of Scottsdale, AZ, step-daughter Mary Jo (Stanley) Bastacky of Rockville, MD, stepson, Marc (Anita) Kapsha of Liberty Borough, grandchildren, Joanna (Donald) Stettmier-Welty, Ronald (Jenny) Sostaric, Ann Marie (John) Marino, Garrett and Grady Carter, step-grandchildren, Jeana Panerella, Michael (Dania) Panerella, Sara (Randy) Benson, and Richard Kapsha, great-grandchildren, Markus Sostaric and Carter Marino, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Richard Kapsha, brother, Oscar Carter and sister Eleanor Carter. Friends are welcome Sunday, November 15 from 1-3 PM at the McKeesport Presbyterian Church where service will begin at 3:00 PM with The Rev. James P. Leuenberger, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.I.P. Children's Program at McKeesport Presbyterian Church, 1510 Versailles Avenue, McKeesport, PA 15132.
