Thomas R. Gibbons, Jr.

Thomas R. "Tom" Gibbons, Jr., 62, of Greenock, died Monday, August 31, 2015. He was born May 22, 1953 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Thomas R. Gibbons, Sr. and Lenora A. Whitney Gibbons. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Church, Christy Park. Tom was a life member of the Greenock Vol. Fire Co., member and past president of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Greater Pittsburgh, Elizabeth Township Sportsman's Association, and Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He was also a member and Scout Leader of Boy Scouts of America, and was a PA Game Commission Education Instructor. Tom graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School in 1971 and was retired from Elizabeth Township. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julia Louise Vossler Gibbons, sons, Andrew Gibbons of Washington, DC, and Thomas R. Gibbons, III., of Elizabeth, brothers, David (Maryann) Gibbons of White Oak, James "Jim" Gibbons and Joseph (Sharon) Gibbons of Greenock, a grandson, Wesley Gibbons, nephews, Vincent (Christy) Gibbons and Joshua Gibbons, and a niece, Samantha Gibbons. Friends are welcome Thursday, September 3 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Patrick Church on Friday, September 4, at 10:00 AM with The Rev. Vincent P. Velas, and The Rev. Brian Vossler, co-officiating.
