Leonard E. Zielinski, Sr.

Leonard E. Zielinski, Sr., 90, of Port Vue, died Saturday, May 23, 2015. He was born November 2, 1924 in Glassport and was the son of the late Stanley and Catherine Sydeski Zielinski. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Sopko Zielinski who died March 24, 2002. He was a member of St. Mark Parish in Port Vue and was also a member of the former Blue Rock Social Club. He retired from the former Copperweld in Glassport and was a WWII Navy Veteran. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with 6 stars, the American Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 stars. Leonard along with his 4 brothers all served in WWII. He is survived by his sons, Leonard E. (Della) Zielinski, Jr., of Port Vue, Michael P. (Sandra) Zielinski of Carnegie, Daniel D. (Marjory) Zielinski of Eighty Four, daughter, Mary Lou ( Robert) Magdic of Fredericktown, sister, Dolores Kyne of Rhode Island, brother, Ernie Zielinski of Massachusetts, grandchildren, Jacquelyn (William) DeBlasio, Andrew Magdic, David, Levi, Sarah and Jacob Zielinski, great-grandchildren, Sienna and Dominic DeBlasio, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary and Virginia Zielinski and Florence Balogh, and brothers, John, Stanley and Harry Zielinski. Friends are welcome Tuesday May 26 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday May 26 at 12:00 Noon, with The Rev. Daniel T. Straughn, officiating.
