Barbara J. Gessner

Barbara J. Gessner, 76, of Greenock, died Friday, March 27, 2015. She was born February 16, 1939 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Norman A. and Thelma Chambers Millington. Barbara was a member of the Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church where she was a former Chancel choir member, and served as chairperson for the Chancel Committee and the Library Committee. She was also a member of the McKeesport College Club, Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens, and the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association. Barbara was a graduate of Slippery Rock University and was a teacher at the former White Oak Elementary School. She is survived by her husband, Jerry R. Gessner and sister, Linda M. (David) Fairley of Cape Coral, FL. She was preceded in death by her sister, Norma J. Getto who died August 17, 2010. There is no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Monday March 30 at 12:00 PM at the Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church. (Everyone please meet at the church). The Rev. William K. Little will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Vernon Community Presbyterian Church, 2200 Buena Vista Road, McKeesport, PA 15135.
