Thomas D. Betters, Sr.

Thomas D. "Tom" Betters, Sr., 95, of Greenock, died Saturday, March 21, 2015. He was born January 13, 1920 in McKeesport and was the son of the late George and Nellie Swaide Betters. He was the husband of the late Jessie Canfield Betters who died March 20, 2007. Tom was a member of St. Patrick Church and the Men's Club there, the Eleventh Ward Welfare Association and the Versailles Croatian Club. He was a retired Auditor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and had previously worked for Western Southern Life Insurance Co. He is survived by his son, Thomas D. (Judith) Betters of Bulls Gap, TN, foster son, Kenneth Finnigan of Greenock, sister, Mary Ann Pici of Versailles brothers, Richard Betters of Duquesne and William (Norma) Betters of Marble Head, MA, grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey (Tonda), Jacob, Jessie, and Kristina, great-grandchildren, Megan, Kelsey, Ian and Shealan, great-great-grandchildren, Landon, Madyson, Kyla and Christian, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Dominic, George and James Betters, sisters, Jenny Betters, Nancy Veitz, and Dolores Cortazzo, and great-granddaughter, Mackenzi Betters. Friends are welcome Tuesday March 24 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Patrick Church on Wednesday March 25 at 12:00 PM, with The Rev. Vincent P. Velas, officiating.
