Betty Jean Jones, 83, of Mount Vernon, died Friday, February 6, 2015. She was born August 20, 1931 in Boston, PA, and was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Rose M. Walter Smith. She was a member of the Boston United Methodist Church, and was also a member and officer of the Allegheny Mountain Tennis Association. Betty Jean was an avid tennis player and was an assistant coach for McKeesport High School girl's tennis team for a season. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles S. Jones, DMD, sons, Kerry (Valerie) Jones of Philadelphia, and Kerwyn (Beth) Jones of Akron, OH, daughter, Karen (Rod) Sickles of Washington, grandchildren, Barrett (Holly) Jones, Brent (Mary) Jones, Blake (Heather) Jones, Brandon (Kate) Jones, Brittany Jones, Jacob Jones and Lucas Jones, great-grandchildren, Ellie Marie, Zachary, Sophie, Charles Stephen, and Theodore Jones, brother, Ronald (Elaine) Smith of Thompson, CT, and nephews. Friends are welcome Tuesday, February 10 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 PM. at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, February 11, at 10:00 AM with The Rev. Jack Piper, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
