Margaret A. Kovac, 95, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was born June 5, 1919 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Agnes Molnar Aranyos. She was wife of the late John James Kovac, Sr. who died October 16, 2002. Margaret was devoted to her family and to working on their farm with her husband John. Together they raised most of their own food over the years and generously shared with family and friends. Margaret loved to cook, especially when making her favorite Hungarian dishes. She was proud of her Hungarian heritage, its language as she was bilingual, and she enjoyed talking about the Magyar culture and traditions. She was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic in Elizabeth Twp., and was also a member of the former St. Stephen's Catholic Church in McKeesport. She is survived by daughters, Margaret (Dean) Haubrich of Lakeville, CT., Rose Marie (Frank) Swaye of Elkton, MD., and Agnes Ann (Tom Hamilton) Kovac of Schwenksville, son, John James Kovac, Jr., of Elizabeth Twp., sister, Lucille Crowther of Daisytown, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Aranyos. Friends are welcome Wednesday October 8 from 4-8:00 PM., at Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday October 9 at 10:00 AM., with the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association at 412-824-1181.
