Robert "Star" Carl Morningstar

Robert Carl "Star" Morningstar, 93, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Duquesne and Elizabeth Twp., died Thursday, July 3, 2014. He was born August 6, 1920 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Orie Washington Morningstar and the late Madeline Christine Kalquist Morningstar. He was husband of the late Dorothy Rose Finnegan Morningstar. Robert was a Candy Salesman and was a WWII Army Veteran. He served as a Medic in the 85th Division 339th Infantry. He was wounded in Italy and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a life member of the Duquesne VFW, 50 years member of the White Oak American Legion and was also a member of the GBU. He is survived by sons, Robert J. (Linda) Morningstar of North Huntingdon and James P. (Bonnie) Morningstar of Glassport, daughter, Diane Marie Peroney of Mount Vernon, grandchildren, Jason Peroney, Kirsten Radaker, Derek, Brandon, Garrett, Vanessa, and Sabrina Morningstar, great-grandchildren, Noah, Riley and Mira Morningstar, and nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome Monday, July 7 from 4-8:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 7, at 8:00 PM with David Nolfi, officiating. Private interment with Military Honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
