Joan Lauer

Joan Lauer, 89, of North Huntingdon, PA passed away on April 26, 2014.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday May 24, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon, Pa 15642.  A private burial service will follow.  There will not be any visitation. Joan was born in Wilkinsburg, PA on March 9, 1925. She graduated as class valedictorian from St. John the Baptist High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from Seton Hill College in 1944. Joan was married to Jacob P. Lauer on July 30, 1949; at the time of Jacob’s death in 1987 Joan and Jacob were married for thirty seven years. Joan was a bright, thoughtful, and religious woman, devoted wife, a loving mother, and the “world’s best” grandmother.In her retirement as a Catholic School teacher, she devoted her life to her family, her church, and service to others through the Norwin Meals on Wheels program and the local food pantry. Joan is survived by her son Daniel and his children Jacob and Melissa and Dan’s granddaughter Kirsten, her son Paul and his wife Jan and their children Aaron, Kathryn, and William, her son William and his wife Joy and their children Jacob and Matthew, and her son-in-law Dennis Frye. Joan is preceded in death by her husband Jacob, her daughter Cecilia and her daughter-in-law Mathilda. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Norwin Area Meals on Wheels, Inc. P.O.
