Varetta Leona Gogoel

Varetta Leona Gogoel, 90, of Elizabeth Twp, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at home. She was born October 7, 1923 in Sutersville and was the daughter of the late Carl and Ellen Landers Byrand. She was the wife of the late Andrew C. Gogoel who died September 29, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Andrene (Robert) Schmelzer of Centennial, CO, and Eleanor (David) Taylor of Belle Vernon, and son, Andrew L. (Lisa) Gogoel of Elizabeth Twp, sister, Eileen Fine of Belle Vernon, brother, Regis Byrand of Clairton, grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Kristin Pope, Brian Schmelzer and Amanda Gogoel, great-grandchildren, Madelyne Taylor and Nash Pope, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Seach and brothers, Carl Byrand, Jr., and John Byrand. Friends are welcome Tuesday, April 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 16, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
