William James Bakewell, 72 of National Pike East, Grindstone, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at home. He was born May 15, 1941 in West Brownsville and was the son of the late Boyd and Ruby Pritts Bakewell. Jim served in the US Army for 4 years after graduating from High School. He was retired from the Plumbers and Pipe fitters Local 354 after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Lee Seese Bakewell, daughters, Stacy Lent and her husband Brian of East Millsboro, and Jamie Bakewell Legarsky of Hiller, grandchildren, Hannah Legarsky and Aiden Lent, sisters, Susan McVey and her husband Floyd of North Carolina, and Ruthann Higinbotham of Michigan, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Donald Bakewell. There is no visitation. Memorial service will be held on Sunday March 16 at 12 noon in the First Christian Church of Brownsville, 512 2nd Street, Brownsville. Refreshments will follow in the church social hall.
