Robert Steele-Emerson Blamick

Robert Steele-Emerson Blamick, 91, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. He was born October 31, 1922 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Charles James and Hilda Marie Johnson Blamick. He was the husband of the late Lois J. Morgan Blamick who died June 23, 2007. Robert was a member of Evangelical Congregational Church, McKeesport, where he was an usher and member of the Cancel Committee, and the Mount Vernon AARP where he served as a Tax Assistor for 27 years. He was also a 60 year member and Past Master of the former McKeesport F & AM Lodge 641, Duquesne-McKeesport Lodge 731, Chapter Lodge 82 and Commandery Lodge 86. Robert was a WWII Army Veteran and had served in Italy, France and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct, Service and Victory Medals. He was retired from the United States Steel Union Railroad division after 40 years of service. He worked as a Clerk, Yardmaster, Assistant General Yardmaster, and Trainmaster. He was a 1940 graduate of McKeesport High School and took continuing education classes at Penn State, McKeesport. He is survived by his son, Robert M. Blamick of Mount Vernon and daughter, Cherylann (Corey) Lopatofsky, son-in-law, Corey Lopatofsky and granddaughter, Sarah Lopatofsky of Delmar, DE, sisters, Kathryn Seitz and Vervaine Mains of White Oak, and Elvena Johnson of McKeesport, brothers, Joseph (Arlene) Blamick of North Huntingdon, and Wesley (Carolyn) Blamick of Tallahassee, FL, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles James Blamick and sister, Jeannette Jeney. Friends are welcome Monday January 20 from 7-9 PM and Tuesday January 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday January 22 at 10:00AM, with The Rev. Glen Irvin , officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at the Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
