Carl "Carlo" John Messina

Carl "Carlo" John Messina, 83, of Versailles, died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at home. He was born June 4, 1930 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Julius and Josephine Rizzo Messina. He retired from the former US Steel National Tube Works and was a former Police Officer for Versailles Borough. Carlo was a US Army Veteran and served during WWII. He was a member of the Eleventh Ward Welfare Association, Croatian Club, EBA, McKeesport Elks, White Oak American Legion, and Elizabeth Twp. Ex-Serviceman's Association. He was a charter member of the former Sixth Ward Club. He was an avid hunter and a great dancer. He had a passion for Christmas Lights and his decorations on his home won 1st place in Versailles. He is survived by his wife, Millie Forney Messina, daughter, Tracey (Terry) Kotouch of Versailles, son, Gregg (Lesley) Messina of Elizabeth Twp, grandchildren, Madison, Ryan, Colton, and Brandon (Amber), niece, Toni Jo (William) Graham of White Oak, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Messina. Friends are welcome Sunday, December 1 from 12-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 2, at 10:00 AM.with Deacon Dale DiSanto, officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum, Elizabeth Twp.
