Jerry Warren Russell, 71, of Elizabeth Twp., died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. " You will always be our hero". He was born April 16, 1942 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Thomas A. Russell, Jr. and the late Edythe Gilchrist Russell. He was a member of Round Hill Presbyterian Church, the Communication Workers of America Union/Print Sector, Stephen Bayard Lodge 526 F & AM, and was an Umpire for the Daily News Baseball League. He was an avid golfer and was Head Starter and Grounds Keeper at Butler's Golf Course. Jerry was also involved in Operation Light Up for the EF High School Stadium. He was a retired Printer and Assistant Foreman of the Composing Room for The Daily News with 39 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Hansen Russell, daughter, Michelle L. (Randy) McCracken of Latrobe, son, Eric W. (Heather Morgele) Russell of Rostraver, brothers, Thomas A. (Nancy Brown) Russell, III., of Newark, DE, and Mark C. (Karen Wawrzeniak) Russell of Elizabeth Twp., grandchildren, Emma, Shayna, Autumn, Corrine, Ashley, Hailey, and Colby, and nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome Tuesday, November 26 from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM, at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held at the Round Hill Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 27, at 11:00 AM with The Rev. Ronald Schemerhorn, officiating.
