John J. Andrascik

John J. Andrascik, 69, of Elizabeth Twp, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 30, 2013 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. He was born September 8, 1943 in McKeesport, son of the late John J. and Irene Werner Andrascik. He was a retired Customer Service Technician for Praxair, a job he preformed with great dedication and pride. John was an artist and expressed his talent in woodworking. He could create tools and parts for anything that he needed to complete his projects. John often said "Anything built by man and be taken apart and rebuilt by man". He proved this true on countless occasions. He also loved antique cars, trucks and motorcycles. John was a member of the East Monongahela Sportsman's Club. He is survived by his wife, Karen M. Flanigan Andrascik, son, John J. Andrascik, IV., of Seattle, WA, daughters, Lori (John) Miller of Petrolia and Kristen David of Smithton, grandchildren, Kelsey and Joshua Heidkamp, and Kaya, Nahonu, and Christopher David, sister, Nancy Andrascik, brothers, Ronald and Donald Andrascik, mother-in-law, Elsie Flanigan of Elizabeth Twp, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wilbert "Jolly" Flanigan. Friends are welcome Sunday, June 2 from 1-8 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 3, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. His courage was an inspiration to many and he will be missed by all who knew him.
