Sara Jane Butler

Sara Jane Butler, 78, of Elizabeth Twp, died Friday, May 10, 2013. She was born March 31, 1935 in McKeesport, daughter of the late Richard and Margaret McCarren Caulfield. She was the wife of the late James M. Butler. Sara Jane was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church and was a Lector there. She was a retired District Sales Manager for Avon. She was a 1953 graduate of McKeesport High School and was active on the Class Reunion Committee. She is survived by daughters, Kathleen (Brian O'Shea) Butler of Jackson, Mississippi, Victoria Griffith of Elizabeth Twp, sons, James M. (Michele) Butler, Jr., of Rostraver Twp, Robert V. Butler of Canonsburg, and Bernard P. (Carole) Butler of Winston-Salem, NC, sisters, Mary Patricia Balzer of Beaver Falls, Shirley Barnes of Versailles, Rosemary (Ted) Smith of North Huntingdon, Kathleen (Jan) Van der Weerd of Valkenburg, Netherlands and Frances West of Monroeville, grandchildren, Christian Taylor, Daniel, David and Laura Griffith, James, III., Erica, Madison and Liam Butler, great-granddaughter, Krista Boey, sisters-in-law, Leila Caulfield of Riverdale, Georgia, and Margie Caulfield of North Huntingdon, brother-in-law, David McCusker of North Huntingdon, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michele Butler, sister, Margaret McCusker, and brothers, Richard and John Caulfield. Friends are welcome Tuesday, May 14 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Michael Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 15, at 10:00 AM with The Rev. Thomas Wagner, officiating. (Everyone please meet at the church). Burial will follow at the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
