Jean Fairley

Jean Ann Smerkol Fairley, 86, of Greenock, died Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was born June 1, 1926 in Pittsburgh, was raised in Duquesne, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Nora Kistler Smerkol. She was the wife of the late Francis Alexander "Alex" Fairley who died January 31, 1990. In addition, she was preceded in death by her campanion, Pete Rankin. Jean was a member of Greenock United Methodist Church, and the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens. She was retired from the former G.C. Murphy Co in Olympia Shopping Center, Versailles. She is survived by her son, Thomas M. and his wife Nancy Fairley of Emlenton, daughter, Sandra J. and her husband Robert Tracey of Belton, TX., sister, Joan McCrumb of Laurel, MD, brother, David Smerkol of Missoula, Montana, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome Saturday, March 16 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, March 16, at 1:00 pm. with The Rev. Lota Jones, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
